Our Ladies had their final Senior County league ( Div 3) game yesterday evening in Wolfe Tone Park, where they hosted Carraigaline in a table top clash.
Carraigaline started the game at a blistering pace and had two goals with in as many minutes of the start and caught our girls cold and added a point before Bantry ladies responded and got their first point of the afternoon in the 3rd minute by the hard-working Molly O Sullivan. The blues added three more points soon after through Sarah Bishop, Kate Keevers &Aoife Kingston. The Blues ladies were now settling into the game. But carraigaline scored a well worked goal in the fifteenth minute and two more points. Bantry replied with points from Meadhbh Sammon, Sarah Bishop, and Molly O Sullivan. But once more Carraigaline broke down field to score their fourth goal in the twenty second minute and scored four more points before Sarah Bishop scored a point before half time to leave the half time score carraigaline 4-8 Bantry 0-8
Carraigaline got the first point of the second half with the blues Aoife Kingston scoring a point in the third minute. Points from Ali O Sullivan and Sarah Bishop kept Bantry pressing the Carraigaline defence. Scores were now hard to come by for both teams with Bantry finding it hard to break down the Carraigaline defence. But the Bantry ladies kept putting the pressure on and got rewarded with a well taken goal by Meadhbh Sammon in the 20th minute Bantry were now finishing the strongest with Carraigaline scoreing one more ponit and Sarah Bishop scoreing four more points for bantry before the full time whistle with Carraigaline running out winners on a score line of 4-12 to Bantry's 1- 14. It was a great second-half team performance by the girls in blue who showed great heart and commitment and pressed their opponents till the very end.
