Our Junior Ladies returned to winning ways when they made the long trek to Donoughmore for their second game in this year's Junior A County championship.
This was a highly competitive game with both teams giving it everything and it went right down to the wire with the girls in blue edging it after a battling performance.
Donoughmore were first off the mark with a point in the second minute.Bantry opened their account on five minutes with a well taken point and it was to be tit for tat throughout the first half with neither side unable to pull away from the opposition although Donoughmore had a good chance to put daylight between the teams when they were awarded a penalty on twenty one minutes but saw their effort superbly saved by Bantry goalkeeper Seadna o Sullivan.So it was all square at half time 0.6 apiece.
The second half of this game proved to be just as tight with Bantry opening the scoring on three minutes with a well worked point.Another point followed a minute later with Donoughmore replying with a pointed free on six minutes.
Bantry were now playing some lovely football and winning possession in the middle of the field and two further points in the sixteenth and eighteenth minutes saw then forge ahead but on twenty two minutes a yellow card saw them reduced to fourteen players.
Donoughmore now sought the utilise their numerical advantage but the Bantry defence were putting in a dogged display and everyone of the girls in blue were fighting for each and every ball like their lives depended on it.
They managed to hold Donoughmore to a solitary point in the closing ten minutes to close out the game and take the spoils on a scoreline of 0.10 to O.8 after a terrific performance.
