BANTRY BLUES HEALTHY CLUB Committee recently presented the proceeds of our Christmas 7s football tournament to the Bantry Defibrillator group,
A cheque for €400 was handed over by Healthy Club officer Mark O’Donovan.
The defibrillator group is completely voluntary community group relying on donations that have enabled them to install 10 defibrillators, and maintain 14 in an area stretching from Colomane, to Kealkil and Snave.
A defibrillator gives a jolt of energy to the heart, which can help restore the heart’s rhythm, and get it beating normally again. This simple piece of equipment is easy to use and doesn’t require training, but it could make the difference between life and death. The boxes that store the AED have been equippedwith combination locks and display visual instructions tomake them quick and easy to access and use the defibrillator in times of emergency.
We would like to thank the Christmas 7s organising committee of Laura O’Sullivan, Jessica Coakley, John Harrington, Kenneth Deane, Kevin Harrington, Daniel Sheehan and Mark O’Donovan for the work they put in to raise the money donated.
