Bantry Blues started their 2023 Premier Intermediate Co Championship campaign with a well deserved, hard fought win over Uibh Laoire in a very windy pitch in Kealkil.

With captain Seanie OLeary winning the toss , the blues opted to play with the wind on their backs for the first half.

The opening 30 mins were neck and neck with both teams trading scores despite the blues being dominant in winning majority of kickouts, did not convert this advantage. Having had two very close goal opportunities missed in the first half, the blues went to the break with a slender lead

The second half started well for the blues when they tagged on a couple of scores, but nie Uibh Laoire were begining to hit a purple patch and got an opportunist goal following a rebound from a save by blues keeper.

The pressure was now on the blues a, bugt composure was kept and they kept at their task .! Following another massive 80m kickout by Mike Casey, captain Seanie OLeary fetched the ball from the air , turned , headed towards goal and rattled the net. The blues were now back in the game, and took the lead and control till the final whistle
