Bantry Blues 1-08 Kilbrittain 0-04

Bantry Blues U17 had their first of two home championship matches last night against a very big Kilbrittain outfit who had posted an impressive 5-16 in their previous outing. With the wind and rain ensuring this was not going to be a game for the purest’s, Bantry began the first half with the wind and while you would always want to play with the wind than against, the flight of the ball and the bounce on the slippy surface Bantry found it difficult in getting the final ball to hand. Kilbrittain employing a very defensive shape made the going very difficult but Bantry were able to reach the short whistle leading 0-04 to 0-01. The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with passes and kicks at the posts proving quite difficult. Bantry kept pressing and trying with one of the final passes sticking resulting in a goal. With Kilbrittain pulling even more men back and trying to isolate their key forward, Bantry held shape and nullified any potential danger. An outstanding hard fought battle in very testing conditions.
Next outing Away to Carbery Rangers on Wednesday 09/08/23 @ 7 o clock.
