Our Junior Ladies made the long trip to Middleton for the next game of their league campaign yesterday evening and came away with another three points after a hard fought win.
Middleton were first on the scoreboard with a point after just two minutes but Bantry soon settled into the game with points from Sarah Bishop,Rachel Murphy and an Aoife Kingston goal saw them take the game to Middleton.
The Bantry defence was on song led superbly by Laura o Sullivan and they limited Middleton to just two further points in the first half. Two points from the impressive Eve Murphy and a goalmouth scramble which led to a Middleton own goal saw the girls in blue leading at the interval on a scoreline of 2.4 to 0.3.
After losing Rachel Murphy to injury Bantry found it hard to find their rhythm after the break and with Middleton growing in confidence this was definitely a game of two half's.
Middleton were dominating affairs but failed to take their chances whereas Bantry were more clinical in front of the posts with a Sarah Bishop goal and a Molly o Sullivan point keeping them well in contention.
Middleton now hit a purple patch scoring four unanswered points but Bantry dug deep and a fantastic goal following a great run forward by Jessica Gleeson put our girls back in control. With the full back line of Kate McCarthy,Cliodhna o Shea and Ciara Barry defending tirelessly and Caitlin o Mahony alongside Emma Spillane gaining the upper hand at midfield Bantry maintained the lead going into the final quarter. The lively Kate Keevers and the hard working Molly o Sullivan were winning good ball and three great points from Caitlin o Mahony,Sarah Bishop and Aoife Kingston saw Bantry run out winners on a scoreline of 4.8 to 0.13.
