Our u16 lads suffered their first defeat of this year's league campaign in a very competitive game against Western Gaels this morning in the park.

Both sides were unbeaten going into this contest so it was no surprise that this turned out to be a close affair between two well matched teams.

The first half was evenly contested with Western Gaels starting the brighter and were up 2 points to no score on ten minutes.Bantry slowly began to grow into the game and hit a purple patch of four unanswered points but a goal from Western Gaels on the stroke of half time saw the sides level at the break on a scoreline of 0.5 to 1.2.

The second half proved to be just as tight but Western Gaels were growing in confidence with some well taken scores to take the advantage going into the final quarter. Our young Blues however did not give up the fight and 3 goals from Fionn Goggin,Dan-Joe o Neill and Billy Sheehan really left this game in the melting pot. However the clock was not on our side and this highly entertaining game ended in a two point defeat for Bantry on a scoreline of 3.9 to 3.11.
