Players came from far and wide from to celebrate Christmas in Bantry & to take part in this annual fun event for our community.
Five teams took part, with a good mixture of experience spread between the teams with each team playing 4 games. After the games were all played, the final came downs to teams led by Anne Coakley & Donal Casey /New York . The final was a fiercely competitive game with teams level at the break. The second half started frantically with Donal Casey’s green team going 5 pts up early in the second half following a cheeky lob goal by Cathal mcCarthy. The game seemed lost until “theWestCorkfella” Kevin Coakley , back from Chicago rattled the net. When the final whistle blew & scores level, it was down to penalties. Again after each teams 5 penalties teams were again level with each team scoring three. It was now sudden death with goalie on goalie, brother on brother when the Casey brothers faced up to each other, Michael home from San Francisco & Donal back from New York. Michael up first, kicked a rugby 3 pointer, which meant Donal only had to rattle the net for bragging rights & that is exactly what he did . Victory to the green team
