Colaiste Pobail Bheanntraí u15 Footballers qualified for the Munster Quarter-Final with a victory over Mitchelstown CBS on Wednesday last.

The game, which took place in Ballincollig, had a nervy start with both teams figuring each other out in the early exchanges. Mitchelstown were first on the scoreboard with a good point from distance. This sprung CPB into life as our lads began to turn their early pressure into scores on the board, scoring 2-1 without reply, the goals coming courtesy of Sean O’Sullivan & Oisin Murphy. Resilient defending at the back through Christopher O’Shea, James Murphy & Fachtna O’Connell in particular ensured this early lead was maintained right through to half time, with CPB leading by 6 points at the short whistle.

Mitchelstown set their stall out early in the 2nd half, and they scored a goal & a point in the first 10minutes, illustrating they would not be giving up without a fight.  However, our lads were determined not to relinquish their lead any further. As it turned out, Mitchelstown would not score for the remainder of the game, with CPB taking over in every area of the pitch for the remainder of the game, running out comfortable winners by 8 points at the final whistle.

CPB now march on to the Munster Quarter-Final against Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine (Kenmare) in two weeks’ time.
Well done to all involved.
