Our Junior Ladies kicked off their Junior A County Championship campaign with a home game against Carrigaline in the park last Sunday afternoon.
In what turned out to be a highly competitive game it was Carrigaline who earned their first win of this year's competition.
Carrigaline started strongly with four unanswered points and a goal in the twenty third minute put them firmly in control.The girls in blue were finding scores hard to come by against a well drilled Carrigaline defence but 1.1 in  the last five minutes of the half saw them trailing at the break 1.1 to 2.7.
Now playing with the breeze at their backs Bantry started the second half with intent.
Four points without reply in the opening ten minutes saw them back in contention.
Two quickfire goals in the tenth and eleventh minutes swung things back in Carrigaline's favour but Bantry stuck to their task well and goaled superbly again on fourteen minutes to keep them in the hunt.
Carrigaline now seemed to hit their stride and despite some good defensive work by Bantry hit five points to Bantry's two in the closing stages of the game to earn the win on a scoreline of 4.13 to 2.8.
Next up for this group is an away fixture against Abhainn Dalla on August 23rd at 3pm in Newmarket.
