Our u14 ladies’ good form in this year's league campaign continued with a hard fought win over Kinsale in the park yesterday evening.
Bantry started well with a fine goal from Emma Harrington in the fourth minute and when she goaled again in the eleventh minute it gave Bantry a good foothold in this game.
Kinsale opened their account with points in the fifteenth and sixteenth minutes but another well worked goal from the lively Fia Russell on sixteen minutes saw Bantry take the upper hand. A fine point from Callie O Donoghue in the seventeenth minute kept Bantry ticking over nicely but a well converted penalty on twenty one minutes and two further points from Kinsale saw them right back in it but it was the girls in blue who went in leading at half time on a scoreline of 3.1 to 2.3.
Again Bantry started the second half well with a lovely goal from the hard working Kacey Cotter inside the first minute. Bantry were now playing some lovely football and working hard especially in defence where Caragh McCarthy, Alex Manning and Saoirse Cooke were putting in a serious effort in front of the excellent Layla Rose Kingston Fitzgerald in the Bantry goal.
Further points from Kate Creedon,Sophie O Donnell and Emma Harrington now saw Bantry take control of affairs and with fresh legs coming in off the bench were able to finish the game strongly.
Another point from Sophie O Donnell in the twenty first minute was followed by a Fia Russell score. Kinsale pointed on twenty five minutes but Kacey Cotter closed out the scoring with a great point in the twenty ninth minute to give Bantry the win on a scoreline of 4.7 to 2.4
