Our Junior 1 Ladies made the journey to Douglas for the next round of their Division 2 County Senior League campaign yesterday afternoon and came away with a great win in a very tough encounter against the city side.
This game was played in windy conditions which favoured the home team in the first half but despite this it was Bantry who opened the scoring with a well worked point in the thirteenth minute.Douglas were starting to come into the game more when they opened their account with two rapid points on seventeen minutes and their running game paid dividends when they goaled in the nineteenth minute.
Bantry finished the half strongly however and two points in the thirtieth and thirty second minutes left the home side leading by a goal on a scoreline of 1.3 to 0.3 at half time.
Bantry started the second half well with a pointed free on two minutes and the girls in blue were starting to dominate in most areas.
Two quickfire goals in the eight and ninth minutes gave Bantry the upper hand which they held for the rest of this contest with the Bantry defence holding Douglas to a solitary point in the second half.Another fine Bantry point in the twenty fourth minute proved to be the last score of the game and it gave the girls in blue a valuable three points away from home and it was no more than they deserved following a resolute display.
Final score
Douglas 1.4
Bantry Blues 2.5 🔵⚪️
Next up for this group is another away fixture against Abhainn Dalla in two weeks time.
