Our u14 ladies got this year's league campaign off to a flying start with a comprehensive win over Castlehaven in the park yesterday evening.
Bantry started this game strongly and were 1.1 to the good after two minutes courtesy of an Emily o Neill goal and a Callie o Donoghue point. The girls in blue were moving the ball beautifully and two further goals from the impressive Callie o Donoghue and Emma Harrington and points from Sophie o Donnell and Kacey Cotter saw them well on top before Castlehaven opened their account with a point in the eleventh minute.
Bantry were defending well and keeping the scoreboard ticking over nicely before Castlehaven scored a goal in the nineteenth minute and another goal on twenty seven minutes which gave them a lifeline but it was Bantry who went in well in control at half time on a scoreline of 4.10 to 2.2
It was more of the same from Bantry in the second half.
Defending solidly and attacking at speed Bantry were really playing some lovely football and two lovely points from the lively Fia Russell in the opening minutes put them well on their way.Castlehaven goaled again in the ninth minute but some fine defending from Anna o Connor,Saoirse Cooke and Raya o Donovan were keeping the Castlehaven scores to a minimum.
With Emily o Neill and Emma Harrington well on top at midfield and Olivia Minehane winning some good ball,Bantry continued to reap the rewards with further goals from Emily o Neill,Fia Russell and the hard working Kacey Cotter to see out the game comfortably to win on a scoreline of 7. 21 to 3.3.
