Our Junior 2 Ladies got their Division 2C campaign off to a flying start with a hard fought win away to Glanmire yesterday evening.Trailing by seven points after the opening three minutes the girls in blue fought their way back into this game with sheer heart and determination to take the spoils at the death.
Glanmire caught Bantry cold with two quickfire goals inside the first two minutes and tagged on another point before Bantry registered their first score with a well taken point in the fifth minute.
For the rest of the half both teams were well met with Bantry settling into the game but it was Glanmire who led at half time on a scoreline of 2.4 to 0.6
Bantry started the second well with a point in the first minute with Glanmire replying instantly with a point on two minutes.
Glanmire got the next two scores but Bantry's mix of experienced and younger players were starting to gel nicely and they scored a cracking goal on fourteen minutes followed by four unanswered points to put them right back into this game.
Bantry were defending solidly and with the sides level going into the final minutes the girls in blue surged up the field to score the deciding point in the thirty first minute which gave them a deserved victory on a scoreline of 1.12 to 2.8.
So, a great start to this group's Division 2C campaign. Next, they face Aghada at home.
