Our Adult Ladies made a great start to this year's Div 2 County league with a fine win against Inch Rovers in the park yesterday afternoon.
Having won the Div 3 title last year the girls in Blue were looking to put down a marker in Div 2 and they couldn't have asked for a better start to their campaign.
Bantry started this game on the front foot with a cracking goal in the first minute and were up 1.4 before Inch Rovers registered their first score of the game with a pointed free in the eleventh minute. Another pointed free from Inch Rovers followed in the fifteenth minute but the Bantry forwards were moving well and kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely with some well taken points to leave them leading at half time on a scoreline of 1.9 to 0.5.
Bantry again started the second half brightly with a well taken point on four minutes with Inch Rovers replying again with a pointed free in the seventh minute. In fact all but two of Inch Rovers scores came from frees which was a testament to the tremendous work rate and tenacity of Bantry's defence.
Bantry were now well on top in the middle of the field and goals in the thirteenth and twenty fourth minutes were no more than the girls in Blue deserved and with the Bantry defence still solid they were able to close out the game to win on a scoreline of 3.12 to 0.11.
Next up for these ladies is an away game to Carrigaline next Sunday at 3pm where they will be looking to kick on after a great start to their season. 💙🤍
