Our u14 ladies got back to winning ways in their West Cork campaign with a comprehensive win over a spirited Gabriel Rangers side in Ballydehob yesterday evening.
It was Gabriel Rangers who started this game the strongest catching the Bantry defence cold to score an early goal inside the first two minutes.
Bantry slowly settled into the game and opened their account with a good point from Emma Harrington in the eight minute, followed shortly by a Sophie o Donnell pointed free.
The girls in blue were now playing some nice football with Sara Murphy dominating at midfield and two quickfire goals from Sophie o Donnell and Hailey Hegarty on fifteen and sixteen minutes put them firmly in the driving seat.
Bantry's defence was playing well and their half back line of Noelle Hurley,Saoirse Cooke and Alex Manning were snuffing out most of Gabriel Rangers attacks with Caragh McCarthy sweeping very effectively behind them.
Bantry kept the scores coming and further points from Sara Murphy,Caitlin o Neill,Kacey Cotter and Callie o Donoghue saw Bantry go in at the break well on top.
The second half saw Bantry keep up the momentum with four points inside the first six minutes before Kacey Cotter goaled superbly in the seventh minute.Further points from Sara Murphy and Sophie o Donnell pushed them well in front and when Emily o Neill bagged a cracking goal on thirteen minutes they were well in control.
It was not all one way traffic however and Gabriels scored two points in the fifteenth and sixteenth minutes which they followed with a goal on seventeen minutes.
The Bantry girls were moving the ball beautifully at times however and despite another Gabriel Rangers goal on twenty two minutes further points from Callie o Donoghue,Sophie o Donnell,Anna Russell and Kacey Cotter saw the girls in blue run out comfortable winners on this occasion.
Well done to all the girls on a great win which puts them back on top of the table in this competition.
