Middleton were on the scoreboard within a minute with a well taken point before Bantry registered their first point on six minutes. Both teams were giving their all and were well matched but Middleton were making more of their scoring chances and with ten minutes left in the half they had opened up a four point lead.Bantry however were working the ball through the lines well and were rewarded with a great goal in the 26th minute before Middleton level affairs on the stroke of half time to leave it 1.4 to 0.7 at the break.
The second half saw more of the same with both teams evenly matched and contesting every ball.
Bantry started well with a goal and a point inside the first three minutes but Middleton replied with three points and a good goal on eight minutes. This now put it up to the girls in Blue and they responded well with points in the 12th,17th,19th and the twenty third minutes to open up a two point lead going into closing stages.Middleton pointed in the twenty seventh minute to leave the bare minimum between the sides and just when it looked like Bantry would clinch the win Middleton were awarded a penalty in injury time and a chance to steal victory at the death. In what was to be the last kick of the game Bantry goalkeeper Seadna o Sullivan pulled off a stunning save to tip the ball over the crossbar much to the delight of the Bantry supporters and ended this contest in a dramatic draw.
The result still leaves Bantry in a good position with two games left to play in this campaign.
Well done to all the girls on a great game of football.
