A decision had been taken to temporarily close our two pitches due to todays heavy RAINS & heavy RAINS forecasted in the coming days with "STORM KATHLEEN" blowing over the weekend

CLUB NOTICE: Both grass pitches have been CLOSED today until further notice due to the large amounts of rain that have fallen & forecasted for the week ahead with STORM KATHLEEN blowing in.

#RainStopsPlay Due to wet weather over the past month and anticipated heavy rains in the days ahead, the decision has been made to temporarily close the pitches to ensure the lasting excellence of the playing surface.

Question being asked - Why is it necessary to restrict use of the pitches if they are “ALL WEATHER” ?

Damage Explanation

Continued use during wet conditions risks: -

> Compacted soil, hindering grass root growth. -

>Increased susceptibility to turf diseases. -

>Uneven playing surface development, affecting game quality.

Benefits of Curtailing UseAllowing time for pitches to dry: -
