Colaiste Pobail Bheanntraí U19 Boys Claim County Championship in Thrilling Final Clash!
REPORT FROM COLSISTE POBAIL WEBSITE
On Thursday March 21st Colaiste Pobail Bheanntraí U19 boys footballers faced off against Mitchelstown CBS in the county final. The game took place in MTU Sports Arena in an amazing contest between two extremely well drilled teams.
The first half was hotly contested with Oisin Murphy breaking through the defense to score a great point to open the scoring. The two teams were evenly matched in the first quarter with the score 2 points each after 15minutes played. Dara Sheedy pointed CPBs second score of the opening quarter.
The half time score line kept up the close nature of the game with CPB taking a 0-7 to 0-5 lead into the break.
The second half was full of tension and drama, the scoring was close until CPB’s corner forward Kian Kelleher scored a great team goal to make the scoreline 1-7 to 0-5 after the third quarter. CPB worked very hard throughout the second half and took a six point lead into the last 10 minutes of the game.
A goal from play and a penalty scored by Mitchelstown CBS brought tensions to a high again for the CPB faithful but a late burst of scoring and great team work from CPB was enough to give our lads the win at the final whistle and to see our captain Callum McIlhenney lift the cup!!!
Final score line 1-12 to 2-8
