“ALCOHOL & OTHER DRUGS WORKSHOP “
Bantry Blues GAA Healthy Club Committee hosted their own Alcohol & Other Drugs workshop on Thurs 18th Jan in the Maritime Hotel.
This workshop is being run country wide by the GAA and is aimed at coaches, volunteers, committees, parents & senior players within all Codes and any other adults involved in the Club.
The workshop was facilitated by GAA Healthy Club facilitators in association with the HSE with workshop presenters Gordon Kinsley & Danny Fitzpatrick.

With a large cross section of attendees from the club with U21 players & Senior players ( Ladies & Men’s) Coaches, Club Committee members & Parents, this workshop was extremely interactive with the presenters making this a very engaging interactive workshop.
With discussions on alchohol abuse and impact on player performance to one’s general health, the impact of others substances such as cocaine & performance enhancing drugs, this was a very informative event.
One of the key messages of the evening was education on “alchohol & other substances “ and the message of “know” – be informed, know the healthy alcohol limits and be aware of drugs and what could be in them.
Another key message was that there is help out there and people to talk to. If someone needs help , you can contact one of our Healthy Club Committee in confidence & they will arrange for Gordon Kinsley (HSE) to talk to you.
