Our u16 lads faced off against St. Vincents in their County semi final today in the park.

Going into this game with key players missing due to injury these young Blues put in a dogged performance to deservedly go through to a County final against the winners of Aghada and Erin's Own.

Bantry started well with a lovely point from Jack Manning in the second minute but Vincents replied immediately and had two points on the board after seven minutes. With both teams well matched and defending well, scores were at a premium but on eight minutes Timmy Mulhall finished off a fine move for Bantry with a cracking goal.

This was followed with points from Colin McCarthy,Owen Crowley and Timmy Mulhall to put Banty into a commanding position midway through the first half.

On eighteen minutes a Dan Joe o Neill effort came back off the crossbar and Fionn Goggin reacted brilliantly to finish superbly to the net to push Bantry further in front.

Bantry were defending solidly with Shay o Donovan,Owen Crowley,Tom Murphy and Paddy Russell to the fore and it was the twenty sixth minute before Vincents registered their next score with Bantry going in at half time leading on a scoreline of 2.4 to 0.3.

Bantry again started the second half well with a fine goal from Jack Manning.Vincents however were now starting to put some pressure on and scored three unanswered points to keep them firmly in this game. The midfield pairing of Colin McCarthy and Timmy Mulhall were now starting to dominate and with good ball going into the forwards Bantry were rewarded when Fionn Goggin again goaled in the twentieth minute to give Bantry the upper hand.

The lads in Blue were now in the ascendancy and when Fionn Goggin again finished to the net superbly to complete his hat-trick in the twenty second minute Bantry were in complete control. With fresh legs in off the bench Bantry were able to close out the game and Timmy Mulhall closed out their scoring with a great goal on twenty eighth minutes to see them run out victorious on a scoreline of 6.4 to 0.8.

A great performance from this group of lads who can now look forward to a County final in the coming weeks.
