Our well tuned Junior B Hurlers, having put in some great entertaining games in the qualifying round robin series, continued to entertain in last weekends RCM TARMACADAM CARBERTY JUNIOR B Hurling Championship final, where they faced the hotly tipped boys from Ballinascarty. Both teams started with great intensity trading scores for the first 15 mins except for the lovely tap in goal bt Arthur Coakley which had the blues ahead 1-04 to 0-04 midway thru the opening half. Some great shooting from play and dead ball by Jack Sheedy kept the blues ahead as Ballinascarty did all they could to claw back the score. By the half time break, Ballinascarty had cut the deficit to two. As in previous encounters when the blues needed some motivation, their management team ensured they came out firing for the second half where they outscored their opponents by nine points to one goal and three with young Sheedy punishing any errors or foul play by the opposition , leaving the blues with a five point win on a full time scoreline of Bantry Blues 1-17 v 1-12 Ballinascarty.
The hurlers will take a well deserved break for a few weeks to allow the Premier Intermediates prepare for their county final, and then they will be back to contest the CO Semi Final – opposition and date/ venue to be advised.
