Bantry Blues V Na Piarsaig this Sunday 2014-09-30 20:01:00

County Semi Final this Sunday in Macroom at 3.30pm. Both clubs have built upa great rivalry over the last 20 years. Our last clash was earlier this season in round 1 of the Premier intermediate championship on May 3rd with the Blues winning by a point. See match report.
Cork GAA Premier IFC Bantry Blues 0-13 Na Piarsaig 2-6.
A late Shane Drummy free finally saw off the challenge of Na Piarsaig in this Round 1 Premier IFC game in Dunmanway. In truth Bantry were on top for long periods throughout the tie but some sloppy defending allowed Na Piarsaig in for 2 second half goals.
The blues made all the early running and went in at halftime leading 8 to 3 with some excellent scores from David Casey and Stephen Coughlan. The midfield pairing of Graham Canty and Seanie O'Leary were on top and provided the inside forwards with a plentiful supply of ball.
The second half opened with a great score from David Power to push Bantry 9 to 3 ahead. Na Piarsaig then enjoyed their purple patch and some poor marking allowed them in for the first goal to bring the score to 9 to 1-5 and soon after it was all square.
From here Ruairi Deane took the game by the scruff if the neck and scored as good an individual score as we are likely to see all summer fielding Danny Murray's kickout and soloing through to put the blues back in front. Deane soon added a free to put the blues 2 ahead and it looked as if that was it but Na Pisrsaig down to 14 men refused to yield and pounced for a late goal to move a point ahead at the death.
Bantry refused to panic and worked the ball up the field and Deane again won a free which he converted to tie the game. Everyone in Sam Maguire Park was now waiting for extra time but Deane had other ideas driving at the Na Piardaig defence and winning a late free. Up stepped Shane Drummy to convert and see the Blues home on a final score of 0-13 to 2-6.
